Finding Your Perfect Match: A Guide to Choosing the Ideal Dog Walker

Getting a new dog? After getting food, leash, crate, bed, etc, you’ll need to start thinking about building your community of professionals who can help you out.

Finding the right dog walker can deeply impact your dog parent experience and help you stress-less when it comes to your dog family member. But how can you make sure the professional is right for you?

Dog walkers come in all varieties. Some of us are strict and focused, and professional with your dog at all times. Others of us are fun, interactive and like to be more casual when walking your dog. The key is to find the right professional for you and your pets. Here’s what to look for in a good dog walker.

1.Have you heard good things about them?

Ask other pet parents you trust for their recommendations. Chances are you’ll at least find out who to start researching.

It's important to find someone that your dog likes and connects with so that when they do have your dog in their presense your dog is happy and enjoys their time with them.

2. Are they insured or carry the proper certifications?

You may not find this information on their website. You might need to ask them or you can search dog walking platforms for their name as most of them require proper certification or licensing such as the Rover App.

3. Do their values align with yours

You can sniff out a dog person a mile away. Does enthusiasm for their profession ooze from their website? Do you see a deep care for animals and their humans? How they greet your dog, if they are super friendly with your dog or naturally can bond with your pup at the first greeting.

4. Budget?

It’s true, money matters! You want a great service provider who fits your budget. When it comes to dog walking, you might be able to save some money by purchasing a bundle of walking days with them to get a special rate.

5. What does your gut say?

Your intuition knows if someone is right for you or not. When you find the right one, you’ll have them for life!! So take the time and really vet your options. You’ll find someone you absolutely love. I know it!
