Meet Trooper ❤️

Some dogs are named exactly right. Trooper has spent his whole young life proving just how much heart a dog can have.

At around 2 years old, Trooper is a friendly, lively boy who survived something most dogs wouldn't. He made it on the streets while blind in one eye—and then, one day while searching for food, he swallowed a piece of sponge and fishing net that caused serious intestinal problems. He needed emergency surgery and was rushed to the big hospital on the mainland, where a large portion of his intestine had to be removed. Trooper is lucky to be alive.

But if you met him today, you'd never guess it. Since returning to Happy Doggo land, Trooper has made a fantastic recovery and his true character has shone through. He's playful, affectionate, and a favorite among the staff. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, adores human attention, and lights up the moment a walk is on offer. His one working eye hasn't slowed him down for a second.

Trooper does need a little extra care to stay his happy, healthy self. He has a big appetite and thrives on a special kibble diet fed three times a day, plus medication to support his pancreas. He's also strong on the leash and full of energy, so he'd do best with an active adopter ready to share an adventurous lifestyle with him. In return, he'll give you a loyal, joyful companion who knows exactly how good a second chance feels.

Trooper is cared for by Happy Doggo, a registered UK charity and US 501(c)(3) founded in 2021 by Niall Harbison, on a mission to fix the global street dog problem through sterilization, feeding, and emergency medical care. From their base in Thailand, the Happy Doggo team feeds around 1,250 dogs every single day, has funded more than 168,000 sterilizations, and has given over 129 dogs like Trooper a second chance at a loving home. Because some dogs just can't make it on the streets—and every one of them deserves a family.
